SUN STAFF AT IBM BIG DATA ENGINEERING BOOTCAMP

In line with the Spiritan University’s culture of continuous manpower development and capacity building of its faculty members, three of Spiritan University Nneochi faculty members, namely Ihedimma Godfrey of the Department of Economics, Brendan Chibuike Kenneth of the Department of Biochemistry and Chigozie-Okwum Chioma of the Department of Computer Science, participated in a five-day Big Data Engineering Faculty Training/Boot Camp for lecturers from tertiary institutions in the South East zone of Nigeria, organized by the International Business Machines (IBM) between the 16th and 20th September 2019.

The training was hosted by Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education Owerri, and had representation from selected faculty members from across the South East zone.

The above mentioned SUN staff members also partook in the International Big Data Engineering Mastery Certification Examinations and all three staff members were successful in the highly competitive examination. To this end they were awarded digital badges by Acclaim, Big Data Engineering Explorer and Mastery Certificates by IBM.

This success comes at the wake of the digitization of global economies and the fourth industrial revolution and thus Spiritan University Nneochi (SUN) is equipped with the skill and manpower to handle courses and training on Big Data Engineering, Data Science, Big SQL and IBM Watson, which are some key competencies tested during the examination.
