Internal and External advertisement for the recruitment of Principal Officers, Academic and Non-Academic Staff for Spiritan University, Nneochi, Abia State, Nigeria

There is a pioneering journey awaiting those who are willing to undertake to fill the following listed academic and non-academic positions at Spiritan University Nneochi, Abia State, Nigeria.

The Spiritan University Nneochi (SUN) is owned by the Congregation of the Holy Spirit (Spiritans), Province of Nigeria South East. The Congregation is an International Religious Order in the Catholic Church founded in France on May 27, 1703. The members of this Religious Order began their educational and evangelization work in Nigeria in 1885. The name of the University is inspired by the charisms of the Holy Spirit who is Spirit of Knowledge, Understanding, Wisdom and Fortitude. The University was approved by Federal Executive Council of Nigeria on the 6th of December 2017 and issued with a licence to operate as a Private University on the 19th of December 2017.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS FOR ACADEMIC STAFF

Professors, Readers and Senior Lecturers:
Professors, Readers and Senior Lecturers must have graduated from a recognised university with a minimum first degree of 2nd Class Upper division, a postgraduate degree, a Ph.D. in the discipline being applied for and at least 15 years university teaching and research experience (Professors). The applicant must demonstrate scholarship and research experience through published stellar works in their various areas of expertise in international and peer-reviewed journals.

The above requirements are applicable to Readers/Senior lecturers except for years of university teaching experience for which 10 years is considered sufficient.

Lecturers I and II
Applicants for Lecturer I positions must have a minimum first degree of 2nd Class Upper division, a good Master’s and a Ph.D. degree from a recognised university. The applicant must be able to demonstrate scholarly competencies in his/her area of study, and have proof of published research works in international and peer-reviewed journals in the last five years.

The above minimum requirements are applicable to a Lecturer II position without a Ph. D degree. The applicant must have proof of having enrolled for Ph.D. programme in a reputable university. A teaching experience of a minimum of 3 years in a tertiary institution would be a plus.

Assistant Lecturer
Prospective candidates for the post of Assistant Lecturer must have a first degree of 2nd Class Upper division minimum, a Master’s degree and show proof that he/she is enrolled for Ph.D. programme in a relevant course of study in a recognised university. Provide evidence of research and publications. Teaching experience of 3 years at a tertiary institution level would be considered as a plus.

All academic applicants should be ICT compliant and able to teach multiple courses in their respective departments.

NON-ACADEMIC STAFF QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Applicants for position of Administrative Officer II must have at least a first degree in Law preferably or the Management Sciences with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division from a recognised University; must be proficient with computer applications relating to the job. Work experience within a University must not be less than 5 years.

For other Administrative Officers, they must have a first degree not lower than 2nd Class Lower Division from a recognised University, and be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Suit.

Applicants for the position of Accounts Officer II must be a holder of a degree in Accounting, preferably Second Class Upper Division from a recognized University; must be a Chartered Accountant with a minimum of 5 years cognate experience. A Master’s degree in Accountancy would be a plus.

An applicant for the position of Accounts Officer III must be a graduate with not lower than 2nd Class Lower Division and achieved a Level 2 Certification with Institute of Chartered Accounts of Nigeria. Three years cognate experience is necessary.

Candidates for the position of University Librarian and Senior Librarians must hold a Degree in Library Science not below Second Class Lower Division from a recognized University. A Master’s degree from a recognised University in addition to ten years cognate experience managing a University library is a must.

Candidates applying for the position of Architect must have a good 2nd Class Lower Division and M.Sc. degree in Architecture from a recognized University. Membership of professional bodies and a minimum of 3 years practical site project experiences would be an added advantage.

Applicants for the position of Electrical, Civil and Building Engineers, must possess a degree in Building or Civil Engineering not lower than 2nd Class Lower Division from a recognized University. Membership of professional bodies and a minimum of 3 years’ practical site project experiences would be an added advantage.

Technicians in Electrical and Computer Sciences shall possess a minimum of OND Upper Credit from a recognised Polytechnic, registered in relevant professional bodies, and are certified to practice by relevant governmental and professional bodies. A minimum of 3 years’ working experience would be an added advantage.

Applicants for the position of Quantity Surveyor must hold a degree in Quantity Surveying not lower than Second Class Lower Division from a recognised University. Membership of professional bodies and a minimum of 3 years’ practical site project experiences would be an added advantage.

Candidates applying for the position of Matron, such applicant must possess a degree in Nursing not lower than Second Class Lower Division from a recognised University. Such applicants must be registered members of the Nurses and Mid¬wifery Council of Nigeria and have a minimum of 10 years’ working experience.

For applicants for the position of Senior Nurse, the level of education of a Matron, membership of Nurses and Midwifery Council of Nigeria are required, but with 5 years’ working experience.

Applicants for the position of Community Health Extension Workers must have an HND or a first degree in Community Health not below Lower Credit from a recognized Health Institution or 2nd Class Lower Division from a recognised University. A minimum of 3 years’ working experience and registration with relevant professional and governmental organisations would be an advantage.

Applicants for the position of a Pharmacist must be graduates of Pharmacy from a recognised University, completed their internship in a Teaching Hospital or reputable State or privately owned hospitals. Applicants must be registered with the Pharmacist Council of Nigeria and have a minimum cognate experience of 5 years.

Applicants for Medical Laboratory Technician position must possess HND in Medical Laboratory Science or Microbiology or National Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science in addition to 2 years’ work experience or National Diploma in Microbiology in addition to a minimum 3 years cognate experience. They must be registered with Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria.
