Admission Paths
In Nigeria, admission into tertiary education institutions for undergraduate degree programmes is through an annual examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). This examination is also held in select countries outside Nigeria. You can check if the examination is offered in your country. But don't worry, even if the examination is not offered in your country, you have another path to admission. You can be admitted through the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB). This path serves as a foundational programme that lasts for one academic year culminating in a national examination. Success in this examination offers the candidate a direct entry to year two of preferred course, thereby preventing the candidate from losing any year or prolonging time of study.
Interested overseas candidates wishing to study at Spiritan University Nneochi, Abia State, Nigeria, are advised to check the list of courses offered by the University at the University website: https://www.spiritanuniversity.edu.ng, to choose preferred courses. They should also write a formal application for admission and send to: [email protected] and [email protected], attaching scanned copies of one’s highest educational qualifications (for example certificates and/or academic transcripts). Note that the list of courses and programmes available is updated regularly.
For students from non-English-speaking countries who have little or no proficiency in English language, there is a three months’ intensive English language programme prior to the one-year foundational programme (JUPEB) to help sharpen their knowledge of English language. As all students live on campus, interpersonal interactions greatly enhance language proficiency.
Admission Process
Spiritan University Nneochi reviews all applications for admission on individual basis and if an applicant is considered qualified, a Conditional Offer of Admission Letter is sent to the candidate. If the offer is accepted by the candidate, he/she MUST write a Letter of Acceptance of Offer accompanied with acceptance fee payment receipt of fifty dollars ($50.00). The University account for the payment will be contained in the Letter of Conditional Offer of Admission.
Once acceptance of offer of admission is concluded, the candidate is expected to pay fees for one complete academic year of study, ranging from one thousand one hundred to one thousand four hundred United States dollars ($1,100 to $1,400), depending on the chosen course or programme of study. The fees cover tuition, accommodation and other sundry charges, and exclude feeding and other personal upkeep. For candidates applying from non-English-speaking countries with little or no English proficiency, additional two hundred United States dollars ($200) are paid for the three months’ intensive English language programme. The fees expected of each candidate will be included in the Letter of Conditional Offer of Admission. The payment of these fees is a pre-requisite to the candidate receiving an Unconditional Offer of Admission from the University and which is needed in student visa application.
Visa Application
Prospective students may apply for visa through the Nigerian Immigration Service or Embassy/Consulate in their country. A typical student’s visa is valid for the duration of study and is not valid for work. An applicant is likely going to be asked to show evidence of unconditional offer of admission and evidence of enough fund for the duration of study (University fees and fund for personal upkeep) from sponsors. Note that annual personal standard upkeep estimate ranges from $1,200 to $1,500, depending on individual needs and life style.
The University advises prospective students to start their application in good time as the University does not determine the procedures of Nigerian Immigration Services. Note too that the deadline for application by a foreign student to study in Spiritan University Nneochi for any academic year/session is August 31st.
Visa Approval and Arrival at the University
