The Department of Economics in the Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences, Spiritan University, Nneochi, Abia State, is one of the Take-off programmes in 2018/2019. It offers a four (4) years Degree Programme in Economics with a wide range of subjects leading to the award of the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Economics.

PHILOSOPHY OF THE B.Sc. ECONOMICS PROGRAMME

The philosophy and mission statement underlying the degree programme in Economics Department of Spiritan University is to produce quality graduates imbued with the ability to assume responsible positions in the various fields where sound knowledge of economics is required. This is to be achieved by equipping them with a broad knowledge in Economics that will prepare them to meet the human resources needs of Nigeria and the global community; and develop in them entrepreneurial knowledge, economic policy making, managerial decision making ability and a spirit of self-reliance.  In line with the motto of Spiritan University we produce graduates found worthy in character (morals) and learning (education) wherever, they may find themselves.
